Each piece begins with longleaf pine reclaimed from a barn in the Martindale area. We keep the nail holes, saw marks, weathering and natural imperfections that make the wood unmistakably its own.

Joe has been building things for more than 20 years, and somewhere along the way one question stuck with him: why buy new when there is wood out there with a hundred years of history already in it?
That idea became JP Central Texas — custom furniture, built-ins and one-of-a-kind pieces made with reclaimed material whenever it fits the job. The goal is not to erase the age of the wood. It is to preserve the saw marks, nail holes, weathering and imperfections that prove it lived a life before it reached yours.
The Martindale Collection began with a circa-1940 barn on land held by the same family since the 1870s. When the barn came down, its old longleaf pine was salvaged instead of discarded. That finite pile of timber is now becoming dining tables, benches, swing beds and other pieces designed to live for another generation.
And when Joe is not building? You will usually find him somewhere on the water, fishing.
The character is already in the wood. The work is knowing what to preserve, what to refine and how to finish each piece so its history still shows.

Joe’s preferred proportions are the narrower 24-inch tables, with 36-inch widths available when you want more generous place settings and serving space.
